Chicago | Sankyu Sushi 🏮
I’ve been wanting to try this izakaya for a while, and it truly delivered on quality! 😌✨ 🐟 Sashimi Platter: The otoro (fatty tuna) was outstanding—silky, rich, and sweet aftertaste, though the fish oil flavor was pronounced. The other fish were also up to standard. 🐟 Grilled Shishamo (Smelt): Surprisingly delicious! The fish was firm and fresh, lightly salted to highlight its natural flavor. 🐖 Grilled Pork Cheek: So aromatic and fatty with that lovely “porky” essence and a hint of charcoal grill char. A bit saltier, but the flavors balanced well. We also ordered mentaiko (spicy cod roe), a yakitori platter, and an eel roll. The mentaiko was good quality—fans of this will enjoy it. The yakitori platter and eel roll were just average; probably won’t order them again. 🏮 The vibe felt authentically Japanese izakaya—not forced or overly themed. The staff included sweet older Japanese ladies who provided warm, friendly service 🥰👵🏻💖. #ChicagoIzakaya #SushiLovers #JapaneseFood #GrilledGoodness #ChicagoEats #FoodieFinds
