Chicago | Stunning Ambiance, Safe Menu Choices π
Ever The space is absolutely gorgeous β dark, moody, Nordic-inspired β¨. The restrooms even play Matthew McConaughey's voiceover β hilarious π. Service was great β staff were attentive, pacing smooth, and very friendly. But it was a very quick Michelin 2-star experience β finished in 1.5 hours, portions were tiny, and I left still hungry. The menu started light, then turned heavier later β nothing mind-blowing, but no disasters either. π« Oscietra Grand Reserve Caviar Fried chestnut purΓ©e with a thick batter but surprisingly light seasoning β a bit sweet, very average opener. π¦ King Crab Refreshing, seafood with sugar crisps β clean, transparent flavor. My portion was fine, but my partner had a super fishy scallop bite and got diarrhea hours later β not sure if it was from this dish π¬. π₯₯ Coconut Thai-inspired chicken soup β you scrape the puffed rice from the bowl's edge to mix in. Bright citrus aroma, refreshing with nice layers β one of my favorites. π Bread & Butter Skull-shaped fermented butter β so cool π. The other butter was five-spice blend, paired with soft Hokkaido milk bread. A rock-inspired detail from the chef β visually memorable. π Sablefish Black garlic crisp shaped into Everβs logo on top. Fish was tender, skin crispy. Paired with pumpkin β overall slightly sweet. π Pork Cheek Braised pork cheek β super tender but the seasoning was just okay. The toasted gruyΓ¨re custard on the side was the best part β light mushroom aroma. π₯© Miyazaki Wagyu Exceptionally good Wagyu β so tasty I stole a bite from my partner's plate π. Served with soy sauce and black rice porridge β rich and well-balanced. Cauliflower purΓ©e helped cut the fat. π Pear Pear sorbet with chocolate crisps β very average. Underlying stout cake lacked fragrance. π Persimmon Persimmon sorbet + chocolate β another fruit + chocolate combo. Not my thing, pretty plain. We got a quick kitchen tour at the end β they were prepping a course we didnβt get to try π« ππ» #Food #ChicagoRestaurants #ChicagoEats #Michelin2Star #FineDining #Ambiance
