Chicago — How Has No One Recommended This Thai Restaurant?! 😱

Located in Lincoln Park, this spot offers an elegant, royal-style Thai dining experience with a sophisticated atmosphere. Went with a group of friends and ordered 7–8 dishes—almost all were hits! Bold, spicy, fresh, and generous portions: grilled prawns were huge and full of roe 🦐, and the Thai-style steak was perfectly charred yet tender inside. But the desserts deserve special praise 🏆! Currently my favorite mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream in Chicago are here. The coconut milk—rich, smooth, not artificially sweet—is exactly what Thai desserts should be. Truly royal-level. A bit pricey, but worth it… though I wouldn’t mind a bigger scoop for $9 😉 (Also, side note: that overhyped mango sticky rice from a certain South Loop Thai spot is cloyingly sweet and just not good 🙅‍♀️.) 📌 Charoen Krung by Sathorn 📍 2100 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60614 We were too busy enjoying the food to take proper photos, but here are my top picks from the meal: 🦐 River Prawn Pad Thai Finally found the most satisfying Pad Thai in Chicago! Perfectly sauced, with a slightly chewy and sticky texture, freshened up with chives and bean sprouts. Best part? Not greasy at all! The extra crushed peanuts were a nice touch. The river prawns were packed with roe and simply grilled—so fresh and bouncy. 🦀 Kanom Jean Nam Ya Poo Let’s call it crab curry dip noodles (forgot to take a pic 😅). Rich, creamy crab curry paired with thin rice noodles—a perfect match. Highly recommend! ‼️ Tip: Focus on the Signature menu page—order what appeals to you, and you likely won’t go wrong. 🍧 Desserts A whole page of sweet treats! Tried and tested: anything with coconut milk is a safe bet. The ice cream? Excellent. Mango sticky rice? Excellent. Other standout dishes: 🍛 Duck Curry – Delicious, but the curry profile is similar to the crab curry noodles. If choosing one, I’d go for the crab noodles. 🍜 Khao Soi – Classic Thai curry noodles—the braised beef in it was really good! Personally, I prefer rice noodles over egg noodles here. 🥓 Krapow Moo Krob – First time trying this stir-fried crispy pork belly—so fragrant, spicy, and perfect with rice! #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFood #Chicago #ChicagoThaiFood #LincolnParkEats #RoyalThai
