Went with a cocktail-savvy friend to their favorite bar in Chicago — The Violet Hour in the heart of Wicker Park. The entrance is easy to miss — it’s often covered in rotating murals by local artists 🎨 Inside, the space is moody and spacious, with intimate high-backed booths, a marble bar, and candlelit tables. The bartender mentioned their cocktails pack 1.5x the usual alcohol — and yeah, you definitely feel it 😅 Highlights below ‼️ 🍹 Lighter & Refreshing Picks: Abrazo RECOMMEND — smooth, aged tequila-based, great starter. Bite it, Eve — gin-based with a subtle floral touch. Jungle Bird — tropical, fruity, deceptively strong. I’m the Problem — another gin-forward option. 🥃 Bolder & Boozier: Poolside Conversations — smoky mezcal with summer herbs. Oaxacan Old Fashioned — tequila aged in red wine barrels, rich and aromatic. TVH Old Fashioned — their signature, a friend’s go-to. Drunkin’ Dunkin’ — coffee liqueur + bold bourbon, topped with torched marshmallow. Whisky Sour (Bartender’s Special) — classic with a refreshing cucumber twist — stood out among the heavier pours. 🍟 Bar Snacks Matter! Warm Crab Dip with house chips — SO GOOD. Thick, crispy chips + cheesy crab dip = perfect with drinks. We asked for extra chips! Truffle Fries — thick-cut, truffle flavor was faint. Not as good as Celeste’s.
