Chicago Beef Wellington at Swift & Sons 🥩
Celebrated Alan’s birthday at this steakhouse — chose Beef Wellington over aged steak (gotta embrace the buttery pastry for autumn, right? 😅). We ordered quite a bit — some dishes impressed, others… not so much. 🐟 Appetizer – Crudo Just okay — the gooseberries were a nice touch though. 🦞 Lobster Bisque Big miss 🚨 So salty it was nearly inedible — a surprisingly basic mistake that made me wonder if I just don’t “get” bisque 🥹 We mentioned it and they kindly swapped it for French Onion Soup — heaven after that salty disaster! Rich, flavorful, perfectly balanced. 🥩 Beef Wellington Filled with foie gras, mushrooms, and spinach. The beef had a subtle tang that paired beautifully with the foie gras — really satisfying! 🧀 Side – Mac & Cheese Five stars — creamy, cheesy, delicious! 🍮 Dessert – Apple Cinnamon Crème Brûlée Filled with autumn vibes — so good! The birthday truffles they gifted were house-made and even better than some fancy chocolate shops 😋 🍷 Paired with a Pinot Noir for the steak. Takeaway: Highlights = steak & steak sides (want to try the dry-aged next time!). Desserts = surprisingly excellent (our server said their pastry chef is one of the best in the city). Soups & some appetizers = hit or miss — choose wisely! Happy birthday, Alan — may all your wishes come true! 🎉 #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats #Steakhouse #BeefWellington #BirthdayDinner #FineDining
