Chicago Date Spot Recommendation
I’ve been wanting to try Au Cheval for a while, and finally went right when they opened this morning! The place fills up fast — by 10:30 AM it was nearly full. If you don’t want to wait, definitely come early ⏰. We only ordered two dishes — their burger is famous but pricey (a single is $17, +$3 for egg, +$7 for bacon… adds up fast 😅). Good thing we kept it light, because these dishes are rich! Recommend ordering modestly or sharing with a group. 🦢 Foie Gras Scrambled Eggs The eggs were super tender, and they gave generous chunks of foie gras (not a spread). Seasoned perfectly — no gaminess at all. Served with buttery brioche toast, crispy outside and soft inside. Highly recommend! 🦴 Bone Marrow Kinda disappointing — it’s literally just straight beef fat 🫠 The caramelized onion jam helped cut the richness, but it was still overwhelmingly heavy. With the already-rich eggs, it was too much. Honestly, you’re better off trying their burger instead! Think twice before ordering this. The vibe here is great — comfy booth seating with nice views outside. Open kitchen, and if you sit at the bar you can watch the chefs in action. The whole restaurant smells amazing, which instantly lifts your mood 😌 Feels like a perfect spot for a casual-yet-special date! #AuCheval #ChicagoEats #DateNight #BrunchGoals #FoieGras #FoodReview #ChicagoFoodie
