A roundup of some treasure restaurants I tried in August! ๐ฝ๏ธ๐ซ ๐ฏ๐ต Japanese โ Ikigai Sushi & Izakaya A personal favorite! ๐ข Ikigai Kushiyaki (Skewer platter) โ perfect mix of chicken, beef, and veggies. Great for the indecisive ๐ ๐ Chirashi Donburi โ sushi rice topped with tuna, salmon, tamagoyaki, roe, and cucumber. Everythingโs fresh, and it comes with salad or miso soup! ๐ฅ ๐ป๐ณ Vietnamese โ Le Colonial Chicago A beautifully decorated spot with great ambiance ๐ ๐ซ Goi Cuon (Spring rolls) ๐ฅ Goi Bun So (Grilled scallop salad) ๐ Pho (only one type, authentic but small portion) ๐ Also tried the green curry (not pictured) Great for Vietnamese food lovers โ extensive menu, ~$50 per person. ๐ฏ๐ต Japanese โ Cocoro Restaurant Another hidden gem run by a lovely Japanese family โ super authentic! ๐ฎ ๐ Udon noodles โ super flavorful and generously topped. ๐ฒ Sukiyaki hot pot โ huge portion packed with beef and veggies. Comes with two salads and ice cream! ๐ท Plum Wine (Umeshu) โ sweet, tangy, and delicious! ๐จ๐ณ Chinese BBQ โ Lao Gao BBQ First time dining in โ so many skewer options! ๐ฅ My top pick: grilled mantou (bun slices) ๐ ๐ฒ Clams with vermicelli โ a bit spicy but tasty. Probably Chicagoโs only authentic Chinese skewer spot โ will return when craving that smoky BBQ flavor! ๐ฅ ๐ฎ๐น Italian โ Volare Big portions, affordable, and delicious! ๐ ๐ฅ + ๐ ร 2 = enough for 2+ people (seriously, so filling!). A must-visit for pasta lovers โ total satisfaction guaranteed! #ChicagoEats #ChicagoLife #FoodieFinds #JapaneseFood #VietnameseFood #ChineseBBQ
