Chicago Food | Filipino Restaurant: Kubo Chicago

Went to see a show at Theatre Wit in Lake View, and right across the street was this Filipino spot! Since I haven’t tried much Filipino food, I decided to give it a try. 🎭🍽️ 🍹 Lychee Martini A martini with a whole lychee inside — so pretty and pink! 💖 Sweet, floral, and refreshing. 🥘 Chicken Adobo Ordered the classic vinegar-braised chicken — and it was delicious! 🍗 The meat was tender and fell right off the bone, tangy but perfectly balanced. The garlic rice was definitely the highlight! 🍧 Halo Halo Maybe I looked like a tourist — the owner knew I’d order this even before I spoke! 😂 This dessert was amazing: coconut milk + coconut meat + jellies + red beans + ube ice cream… think bubur cha cha but even more textured and flavorful. Pro tip: come with friends! This portion is huge — I struggled to finish it alone. 🥥❄️ Also — right across next to the theater is The Catcade, a cat café + arcade! 🐱🎮 Sadly tickets were sold out today, so I could only wave at the kitties through the window. 😿 I’m no expert on Filipino cuisine, so I’m not sure how authentic this place is — if you know any truly authentic Filipino restaurants in Chicago, let me know in the comments! 👇💬 #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats #FilipinoFood #KuboChicago #LakeViewEats #TheatreAndDine
