Chicago Foodie Roundup
It’s been a while—time for Ten-Yuan Sauce’s Food Diary: Part Two! 💛 OLIO E PIÙ 🇮🇹 Came here for the Chitarra Alla Carbonara (bacon, cheese, egg yolk pasta)—a must-try according to many! Some say it’s too salty, but I found it just right. It combines all my favorite elements, though it gets a bit rich toward the end. Also tried the Fritto Primavera (fried seafood & veggies) and Tagliata di Manzo (ribeye steak)—both decent. Would I return? Probably not—it was incredibly loud 🗣️🔊. Hard to talk, let alone enjoy a date night. 💛 YooYee 🥇 If I call this the best Sichuan food in Chicago, who’s gonna argue? 😉 My favorites: Jin Tou Ba Nao (braised beef tendon)—so tender and flavorful, especially over rice 🍚. Leshan Sweet Skin Duck—crispy, sweet, and not greasy. Dry Pot Double Crisp (with pork throat, kidney, lotus root, and potato)—spicy, numbing, and crunchy! My friends left happy and satisfied—I’ll be back again and again, even if the wait is long! 🌶️❤️ 💛 Tzuco 🇲🇽 A feast for both the eyes and taste buds! Tried their brunch menu. 🐙 Pulpo Taco – Soft corn tortilla with grilled octopus, avocado, red onion, and chicharrón. Add their spicy sauce—absolute perfection! 🍰 Tres Leches Horchata – Must-order! Cake soaked in sweet milk, topped with vanilla cream and tart berries—pure bliss. 🦆 Duck Waffle – On the sweeter side. 🥩 Steak Tartare – Just okay (beef + avocado + poached egg). Not bad, but not memorable. 💛 Torizen 🏮 (West Suburbs Izakaya) Here for one thing: their lunch menu pork cutlet rice bowl! The tonkatsu is incredibly juicy and not dry at all—instantly reminded me of an amazing katsu spot in Hawaii 🥺. A perfect substitute when the craving hits! Their dinner menu is also solid, but this katsu bowl is my true love ❤️. #StudentEats #FoodDiary #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #RestaurantRecs
