Chicago Hidden Gem Late-Night Izakaya โ Ikigai ๐ฎ
Saw mixed reviews about Ikigai, but decided to give it a try anyway โ and Iโm so glad I didnโt miss this spot! ๐ Our server was super sweet. Because it was snowing that day, she brought us complimentary miso soup (itโs $5 on the menu and we hadnโt ordered it ๐ ). She recommended the sashimi of the day, and the chef even gave us extra pieces โ so fresh and delicious! ๐ The chicken karaage was amazing! ๐ Grilled beef tongue paired with pickles โ tender and not greasy at all. ๐ The grilled chicken skin was oily but incredibly fragrant!! ๐ The grilled chicken liver โ I only took one bite, maybe because Iโm not big on liver flavor. ๐ Not sure why, but while the sashimi was super fresh and tasty, the ร la carte nigiri didnโt wow me.
