Chicago Hidden Gem Sushi Spot π£β¨
Checked out a beloved local Japanese restaurant today! Originally planned for solo dining, but ended up going with a hostel roommate last minute β two is better than one, right? π π± Toro Tartare Donburi (Tuna Rice Bowl) The star dish lives up to the hype! Mixing the egg yolk with rich, fatty tuna and seasoned riceβ¦ one bite and I was in heaven π₯°β¨ π’ Kushiyaki (Grilled Skewers) We ordered the most recommended: Negima (chicken thigh) β juicy and tender π Kawa (chicken skin) β absolutely mind-blowing π€― Tori Hatsu (chicken heart) β I felt it was slightly underseasoned (maybe because Iβm used to eating hearts heavily seasoned at BBQ spots?), but still tasty overall! πΈ Total with 20% tip came close to $80 π β³ Friday 5:30 PM β no reservation needed, but by 6:30 PM it was almost full. Not overly crowded, but booking ahead is still a good idea! π Ikigai Sushi & Izakaya 372 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60654 #ChicagoEats #SoloDining #ChicagoSushi #JapaneseFood #Sashimi #Yakitori #TunaBowl
