Chicago Japanese – Momotaro 🍣✨

Back from the Bay Area and met up with a friend to catch Hamilton’s opening weekend in Chicago 🎭. After the visual feast, we treated ourselves to a culinary feast (before any nuclear wastewater arrives?! 😅). 1️⃣ Maguro ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bluefin tuna tartare — perfectly seasoned, loved it! 2️⃣ Jidori Kimo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chicken liver pâté on toast. Ordered out of curiosity but wow — not gamey at all. Spread with a bit of mustard on buckwheat toast — we devoured three servings! 🍞 3️⃣ Spaghetti ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Japanese curry pasta — first time trying it, slightly spicy and tasty, but tiny portion! 4️⃣ Gyutan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Grilled beef tongue — my friend’s favorite. Charred and crispy, well-marinated, though I caught a slight gaminess. 5️⃣ Negima ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Shiso-wrapped chicken thigh — my top pick! Juicy with great charcoal flavor. Sprinkle some chili powder for another layer of taste — two flavors in one! 6️⃣ Kamo To Ume ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Duck breast with plum sauce — my love for duck + plum sauce earns it five stars. Tasted a bit like roasted duck, though slightly salty. 7️⃣ Kumamoto Beef to Hotate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wagyu and scallop sushi — delicious, but after all those grilled dishes, even great sushi felt… just okay 😄. 8️⃣ Chahan ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stone pot beef rice — hyped online but pretty bland. Filling though. 9️⃣ TOROPIKARU ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tropical fruit cream sorbet — gorgeous plating like little seashells on sand!
