Chicago Michelin One-Star|An Eight-Course Reunion with an Old Friend

Yesterday, I met up with a friend I hadn’t seen in a year to try Sepia, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Chicago. The rain-freshened streets glimmered softly, setting the mood for our reunion dinner. 📍 123 N Jefferson St, Chicago, IL 60661👌 We chose the Chef’s Experience — an eight-course tasting menu ($185 per person). It began with five petite snacks, opening this New American fusion meal with vivid flavors. Smoked beef carpaccio served in a candied onion tart with sweet mustard — smoky and savory. Foie gras corn dog paired with roasted honey apple caramel sauce — a sweet-salty delight.❤️😍 Crispy trout skin with dill and horseradish vinegar — rich in texture and layers. The small, elegant opening felt like a perfectly arranged prelude, building anticipation for the courses to come.😂💕 From the third course onward, the flavors took on a Southeast Asian twist — tangy, sweet, and spicy, awakening the palate step by step. 🦆 My favorite was the Rohan duck breast from the main course. The duck was glazed with caramelized butter and honey, served with cocoa-dusted Jerusalem artichoke crisps, lingonberry mustard sauce, malted artichoke purée, and a mini duck rillette pithivier (flaky pastry pie). The dish felt both artistic and substantial — genuinely satisfying. Desserts were a pleasant surprise too — light, refreshing, layered, and more than one course, ending the meal on a clean and comforting note. #Foodie #Chicago #ChicagoEats #Michelin #MichelinDining #ChicagoLife #LifeInTheUS
