Celebrated a friend’s birthday here — such a gem! 📍 Marrakech 1440 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60642 An authentic Moroccan restaurant, family-owned! The decor is unique and adorable — all the and tableware were brought over by the owner from Morocco! The chef is the owner’s wife, and the owner himself is super friendly — served us and explained every dish. 🐔 Chicken Pastilla — my absolute favorite! Listed as an appetizer, but it’s a signature Moroccan pie. OMG — crispy on the outside, layers of phyllo-like thin pastry, dusted with a touch of powdered sugar. Inside: shredded chicken thigh, tender and fragrant. Sweet-savory combo done perfectly — highly recommend! They also have a Seafood Pastilla — sadly sold out that day. Definitely want to go back for it lol. 🧆 Marrakech Deal — another great appetizer. Kinda like the veggie platters you get at Ethiopian restaurants — flavorful dips. 🍲 Tagines — the main event. Tagine is a North African slow-cooked stew, also the name of that little “tent” or “hat”-shaped pot 😂 They have lots of options — all pretty solid. Order based on your favorite meat and ingredients.
