Chicago One Michelin Star - Omakase Yume 🌟

Yume is one of those places that seems like all the locals have been multiple times, but I could never manage to book a spot 😅. Honestly, I kept forgetting to make reservations and wasn’t diligent about checking for openings. But finally, in March, I grabbed a last-minute seat! 🎌 It was a solid, classic omakase experience—nothing missing, but maybe my expectations were just too high? The flavors were good, but not particularly mind-blowing 😌. One piece that stood out was a sushi paired with kimchi… mostly because the moment I bit into it, all I could taste was kimchi 🌶️. There’s been talk about a secret off-menu seafood rice bowl 🍚. I’m not a huge sea urchin enthusiast, so I wasn’t too bothered about missing out. Personally, I feel a restaurant’s skill should be judged by its standard set menu and any additional dishes listed—not just by hidden items only regulars know to ask for. As a first-timer, that felt a bit unfair and kinda disappointing 🥲. Overall, if a friend really wanted to go, I’d join them—but on my own, I probably wouldn’t return 🤷‍♀️. #Omakase #Chicago #ChicagoFood #ChicagoEats #MichelinStar #SushiLover #JapaneseCuisine
