Chicago Peruvian β Tanta, Red & Blacklist After Two Visits π΅πͺπ
Tanta is a pretty popular Peruvian spot β been there twice. β Good (Red List): π₯ Grilled Scallops (appetizer) β recommended for a reason. Fresh, juicy, especially the sauce β rich, cheesy, unique. π Arroz con Mariscos (seafood rice) β I really like their rice β grainy, perfect for that paella/ texture. Very Asian-palate friendly. 2β3 people can share one order. π First appetizer on the menu β Peruvian national dish: fish ceviche. Light and refreshing, kinda like Dai or Thai flavors but not spicy. Iβve tried two ceviche-style apps here β the other was squid rings with the same sauce β so Iβd recommend the fish one. β Not So Good (Black List): π£ Sushi menu β only tried it the second time, had high expectations. Ordered two kinds. Overall, the sushi rice disappointed me. They use the same rice as in their β big grains, separate, great for fried rice, but not sticky enough for sushi. Texture was off. π₯© Wagyu + quail egg sushi β wagyu was fragrant, quail egg was a fun touch, sauce tasty. Only issue: wagyu was slightly overcooked β couldβve been more tender. #ChicagoEats #PeruvianFood #Tanta #Ceviche #SeafoodRice #SushiMiss π΅πͺπ
