Chicago Pop-Up Dinner Series β Txa Txa Club π½
Stumbled upon this dinner club called Txa Txa on IG and booked a table for two with a friend β just in time for their summer corn-themed dinner! π½ The ticket included two drinks, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. I chose the fermented corn Daiquiri (pictured second) β tangy, sweet, and very summery. πΉ π½ Fried corn cakes with cashew-parsnip butter and a dash of Thai chili sauce, plus roasted cherry tomatoes. π½ Octopus leg with basil olive oil and a sauce made from huitlacoche (corn smut) and pineapple β hands-down the best dish of the night! π π½ Sourdough with shiitake mushrooms and apple slices β the bread was too hard to enjoy, and while the mushrooms aimed for a meaty texture, they felt odd on toast. π½ Corn dog with flying fish roe sauce β a fun and surprisingly well-matched combo! π π½ Mussels with sausage and fried parsnips β the seasoning was great, but because the venue (a design studio) only had portable stoves, the mussels were pre-cooked and reheated, making them chewy and overcooked. π½ Dessert was corn ice cream with blueberry sauce β tasty in concept, but consistency varied. Some got firm scoops; mine was mostly melted by the time it arrived. π Honestly, this supper club feels more about socializing for young crowds than the food itself. For me, great flavor matters more, so Txa Txa might not be my ideal fit β but itβs reasonably priced, so if youβre curious, you can book via their IG page for a unique experience! #ChicagoEats #PopUpDinner #SupperClub #ThemedDinner #ChicagoFoodie #SummerEats
