Chicago Restaurant Week|Amaru 🌮 Latin American New Spot
First time trying Chicago’s annual Restaurant Week! We chose Amaru, a new Latin American restaurant in Wicker Park 🍽️ The space is intimate with sleek, modern decor. Food is boldly flavored — great with drinks 🍹🍷 Overall a solid experience — definitely worth a visit! They offered two Restaurant Week menus: $42 for 3 courses $59 for 4 courses We ordered one of each. Highlights: 🥟 Empanada de Bacalao Fried cod and potato turnover with chili — rich and tasty. 🐟 Ceviche del Día Fresh fish in tangy citrus marinade with apple, onion, and cucumber — bright and refreshing. 🐙 Pulpo a la Plancha RECOMMEND ❗️ Grilled octopus leg — tender, smoky, and well-seasoned with tasty potatoes. 🐟 Rainbow Trout RECOMMEND ‼️ Whole roasted trout — crispy skin, juicy meat, served with smoked chili butter sauce. So good! 🥩 Adobo NY Strip Charcoal-grilled steak with mushrooms — decent but not the star. 🍰 Brazo Gitano Puerto Rican-style rolled cake with pineapple slices (the best part!) and torched marshmallow topping. Sweet but addictive — my partner finished mine too 😂 💡 Tip: The $59 menu dessert is chef’s choice (ours was Brazo Gitano). The $42 menu lets you pick — we went with the server’s reco, but the Espresso Tres Leches looked amazing at the next table. 🍸 Drink: Old Cuban — nice and balanced. Stay warm and enjoy Restaurant Week, everyone! 📍 1904 W North Ave, Chicago, IL #ChicagoEats #RestaurantWeek #LatinFlavors #WickerParkEats #ChicagoFoodie 🌮🍹
