Chicago Restaurant Week | French Dining at Chez Joel Bistro Francais
Chicago Restaurant Week · French Cuisine · $39/person with several course options Following our foodie friends, Mr. Ma and I tried this French bistro for Restaurant Week! Appetizers: Choice of two soups + one salad 🥗 The salad was fresh and simple — the walnuts inside were delicious! 🎃 Pumpkin cream soup (bottom left) — rich and flavorful, highly recommended! 🧅 French onion soup (bottom right) — just okay, nothing special. We also added Chicken & Duck Liver Pâté for $15 (not included in the set). Two generous slabs of pâté — a bit salty on its own, but spread on bread, even a non-liver-lover like me enjoyed it! 🍞✨ Main Course: Options included steak, chicken, and salmon. All four of us chose the steak — decent but not memorable. Not bad, not amazing. The fries on the side were tasty, though a tad salty. 🥩🍟 Dessert We each picked a different one! 🥐 Top left: Profiteroles — the best of the bunch! 🍫 Top right: Chocolate cake — standard, solid. 🍦 Bottom right: Ice cream — nice but ordinary. 🍮 Bottom left: Crème Brûlée — the sugar crust was very sweet (our friend loved that part!), but the custard underneath had a strong eggy flavor he wasn’t fond of. After tax and tip, the total was $216 ($54 per person). Not bad for a French meal in Chicago! 💸👍 #ChicagoRestaurantWeek #FrenchFood #ChezJoel #ChicagoEats #FoodReview #SteakAndFries
