Chicago Restaurant Week | Hawksmoor 🍖 A Timeless British Steakhouse
Chicago's annual Restaurant Week is back! This time, I tried out the newly opened Hawksmoor, a British award-winning steakhouse that's been around for half a year. The blind pick was a huge success! The portions were generous and the flavors were on point, meeting the high standards of Restaurant Week. 🌟 The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown on La Salle Street, occupying an entire third floor. The first floor is the main dining area, while the second and third floors offer private rooms and event spaces. - 2 courses for $45 - 3 courses for $60 - 2 glasses of wine pairing for $30 (discounted price) Let's dive into the dishes! 🍽️ 1️⃣ Potted Beef & Bacon Yorkshire Pudding This classic British dish is a must-try! The Yorkshire pudding is baked to a crisp, hollow interior, served with a rich, aromatic onion gravy. The beef and bacon are incredibly satisfying. It's a hearty and delicious start to the meal. 😌 2️⃣ Beets Salad 🥗 The beet salad is fresh and vibrant. If you're not a fan of beets, you can switch to their Caesar salad, which looks equally generous. 3️⃣ Steak Frite The steak is a solid 10oz portion. While the cut is fairly standard and not super tender, the steak sauce is fantastic. The fries are the real star here—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They're perfect! 🍟 4️⃣ Sea Bream 🐟 When this dish arrived, I was blown away by the portion size! It's massive. The fish is lean but not dry. A sprinkle of black pepper, a pinch of salt, and a squeeze of lemon 🍋 make it taste great. It's packed with protein and definitely worth trying. Even my dining partner was impressed. 5️⃣ Coconut & Passion Fruit Pavlova This dessert features a meringue base with a delightful blend of coconut and passion fruit. It's a nice balance of sweet and tangy. If I had the chance again, I'd try the hot chocolate pie instead. (If you visit, let me know how it is!) Additional à la carte items: 6️⃣ Sautéed Spinach I ordered this for some greens, and it exceeded my expectations. Unlike typical Western-style spinach that can be too salty or greasy, this one is perfectly seasoned and very palatable for those with a Chinese palate. 7️⃣ Bone Marrow Oysters The flavors are decent and slightly salty, making them a great pairing with wine. At $2 each during happy hour, I have no complaints. 🦪 The two glasses of wine I ordered were recommended pairings for the steak and fish, and they were both very good. 👍 #ChicagoFood #ChicagoRestaurantWeek #ChicagoSteakhouse #ChicagoDining
