Chicago Restaurant Week — Miru Review

For Restaurant Week at Miru, smaller groups seem to get better value, since the main course is only one choice shared across the whole table — and honestly, the main was the weakest part of the menu. Everything else was quite good! They also served a non-alcoholic cocktail — Japanese Twilight. I don’t drink much, so I appreciated the light alcohol taste — couldn’t pinpoint the fruit flavor, but it was sweet and pleasant. 🥢 Starter: Edamame for the table to share — some were a bit charred, but the seasoning was unique. Nice to munch on while waiting. 🍣 Miru Temaki Sushi (one per person) — salmon, chu-toro tuna, and yellowtail, served with sushi rice and nori so you can make your own hand rolls. Fish was super fresh, rice soft and slightly sweet — loved it! 🐟 SPECIALTIES: Cod and steak. The cod was excellent — tender, well-seasoned. White miso on the side was a bit strong for me, so I skipped it. The steak came medium-rare (they didn’t ask for doneness). Lightly seasoned — you could dip it in the side sauce, though I prefer medium. 🍚 Main Course (shared): Wild Mushroom Sizzling Rice — served in a Korean stone bowl. Lots of mushrooms, but they didn’t really blend with the rice — felt disconnected. Ankake Yakisoba — basically the veggie version of their regular duck yakisoba. We also ordered the duck yakisoba to compare — duck was okay, but the sauce was way too salty! 🍨 Dessert: Mango sorbet + rice pudding. The rice pudding had ice crystals (👎), but the mango and creamy flavors were rich. Overall, a dessert well-suited to Asian tastes. #ChicagoEats #RestaurantWeekChicago #MiruChicago #ChicagoRestaurantWeek2026 🍣🍽️✨
