Chicago Restaurant Week - Stop #2: Proxi ๐
Once again dining with Her Majesty Yuan ๐, this time we tried fusion cuisine at Proxi. Thereโs even a YouTube interview with the chef for those interested in a behind-the-scenes look! ๐ฅ The meal was a mix of hits and misses. The $45 prix-fixe included three courses and a dessert โ pretty good value overall! Course 1: Foie Gras Torchon ๐ฆ: Fragrant with yuzu zest for a unique texture, but way too salty. ๐ฃ Samosa Chaat ๐ฎ๐ณ: Indian-style fried dumplings with cucumber yogurt and chutneys. I havenโt had the authentic version, but this felt oddly unbalanced โ canโt quite put my finger on it. ๐ค Course 2: Thai Red Curry Clams with Minced Pork ๐: Again, too salty! Wouldโve been perfect with less seasoning. ๐ฅต Misoyaki Black Cod ๐: Delicious and perfectly seared โ one of the highlights of the night! ๐๐ฅ Entrรฉes: Pork Shoulder ๐: Tender and just the right level of sweetness. Thai Seafood Laksa ๐: Rich and creamy coconut broth โ I mixed the rice right in and finished every drop! ๐ฅฅ๐ Desserts: Pavlova ๐ฐ: Topped with turmeric-infused cream that tasted oddly like gingerโฆ not for me. ๐ฌ Candied Hibiscus & Coconut Sorbet ๐บ: Refreshing and delicious! Turkish Coffee Opera Cake โ: Good but not particularly memorable. Final thoughts: My wallet is feeling the Restaurant Week drain ๐ธ๐. Probably stopping after two more spots! #GlobalEatsSquad #ChicagoRestaurantWeek #ProxiChicago #FusionCuisine #HitOrMiss
