Chicago Restaurant Week Dinner

Located right by Michigan Avenue, this cozy and charming restaurant is on the smaller side but radiates warmth. Upon entering, the hostess — with her delightful French accent — greeted us warmly. A candle was lit on our table as we sat down, adding a touch of romance to the evening 🕯️🇫🇷. We started by browsing the cocktail menu and chose two drinks to slowly savor the ambiance: 🍸 The Bistronomic: A blend of bittersweet vermouth and elderflower liqueur with subtle floral notes, finished with lime and sparkling wine. Aromatic with a gentle bitter-sweet balance — perfect if you enjoy cocktails with a hint of bitterness. 🍸 French Spritz: When at a French restaurant, you can’t go wrong with a French cocktail! Though made with vodka, it’s light and easy to drink. Both cocktails were refreshing and perfect for sipping while chatting and browsing the menu. Starter Dinner was $42, but we added a starter for an extra $17 — which ended up making us quite full! We ordered the Cheese Plate and Grilled Cheese Brioche Sandwich. The cheese plate came with three varieties and bread — not a cheese expert, but I enjoyed each one’s unique flavor without any being too overpowering. The grilled cheese sandwich was surprisingly large! It came with a tasty side salad, but we only ate half to save room for later. First Course 🥪 Terrine: A rich, peppery meat paté served with bread, Dijon mustard, and pickles. Savory and flavorful, though slightly dry. 🐟 Tuna Tartare (+$10): Be sure to ask your server about the daily tartare style! Ours featured a layer of avocado on top and a tangy-sweet tuna tartare below. It wasn’t the typical light lemon-and-olive-oil style — instead, the avocado and sauce created a rich, layered taste that still let the tuna shine. Moist and delicious with bread — this was my favorite! Main Course 🍷 Beef Bourguignon: At first glance, it looked like beef noodle soup 😂. The beef itself was incredibly tender, braised to perfection with deep red wine flavors. The noodles on the side, however, were a bit underwhelming — not very springy and somewhat bland. But the mushrooms on top were delicious! 🍖 Chef’s Special — Lamb Shank: Absolutely outstanding!!! Slow-cooked until fall-off-the-bone tender, packed with collagen and infused with a lovely lamb flavor (not gamey at all). Served with a rich sauce and sides — the perfect hearty dish for a chilly Chicago winter. Dessert 🍫 Chocolate Cake: Tasted like a gourmet version of a Kinder Bueno — crispy base with hazelnut-chocolate layers, just like the candy bar! 🍒 Cherry Pudding: Rich with vanilla flavor and a uniquely delightful texture — highly recommended over the chocolate cake. Overall, a wonderful French dining experience — cozy, flavorful, and perfect for a special night out! ❤️🍽️ #ChicagoRestaurantWeek #FrenchCuisine #Bistronomic #ChicagoEats #DateNight #FineDining
