Chicago Restaurant Week Stop 3π Proxi
Our third stop was Proxi, a creative fusion restaurant π½οΈβ¨. Iβd heard some people say the portions were small, so I ate a little beforehand β but ended up taking two dishes home because I was too full! π½π¦ Course 1 (choose only two dishes, no matter the party size) Foie Gras Ganache: A super rich, milky little cake π°, slightly smoother than Chinese "fa gao" β absolutely delicious! But note: this oneβs an add-on for +$10 πΈ. Root Vegetable Salad: A mix of beetroot, mint leaves, crispy garlic chips, and couscous β packed with texture and flavor! π₯π§ Course 2 (again, only two dishes total) Roasted Japanese Sweet Potato: The roasted sweet potato π was fine but not as sweet or soft as expected β a bit firm, almost like a potato. Black Cod Misoyaki: Tender, flaky miso cod π β so delicate we finished it in just a few bites! Also an add-on (+$10). Entree Pumpkin Sambhar: A curry-spiced pumpkin and vegetable stew ππ, served with two fried dough balls β unique and tasty! Ended up taking leftovers home. Grilled Pork Collar: Char-grilled pork neck π with fish sauce β very Southeast Asian! I usually donβt love fish sauce, but this dish was amazing! Dessert Turkish Coffee Opera Torte: A rich coffee cake π° β too full to finish, so took it home. Tasted great! π Spiced Pavlova: The berry sorbet in the middle was the best part! π§ The outer meringue was just okay β ended up just eating the sorbet. π 565 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60661 Looking back, I realized I ordered a lot of vegetarian dishes this time π₯ β maybe because Restaurant Week had me eating so much, I unconsciously leaned toward lighter options π. The restaurant is creative and flavorful, but having so many add-ons on the tasting menu felt a littleβ¦ insincere. Next up: a non-Restaurant Week spot thatβs absolutely delicious β stay tuned! π #LifeInNorthAmerica #ChicagoRestaurantWeek #ChicagoLife #DateNightRestaurant #FoodReview
