Chicago Schaumburg | Old Hutong Food Review ✨
Saw this newly opened Chinese spot on social media—looks like a Din Tai Fung vibe! Went with family over the weekend after an IKEA run. 👉 First impression: The decor has a nice Chinese retro feel, and the menu made us want to order everything! 🤤 🥢 Our Orders & Recommendations: ❤️ Beef Noodle Soup – Rich, savory broth, super tender beef, with greens and cilantro. The noodles were chewy and likely handmade. 💛 Cucumber Salad – Crunchy, pre‑salted, not just chili‑oil dressed—refreshing and appetizing! 🧡 Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs – Kid‑favorite, tasty tangy‑sweet glaze. 💚 Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings) – Their star dish! Made fresh in the open kitchen—juicy and delicious. 💙 Thumb‑Sized Potstickers – Crispy “lace‑edged” bottoms, packed with meat—kids loved them. We also had shrimp fried rice (gone too fast for a photo 😂)—soy‑based, not the plain white rice style like Din Tai Fung. 🤎 Jasmine Milk Tea – Tasted almost identical to Molly Tea’s version! 💸 Prices are reasonable per item, but portions are on the smaller side. Best to share multiple dishes—I actually prefer it that way, so you can try more! Total for 3 adults + 2 kids: $106 after tax & tip. 👀 Service Note: Table wasn’t fully clean when we sat, we got only 4 sets of utensils for 5 people (took 3 requests and a manager’s help to get the last one 😅). Finished plates weren’t cleared promptly until the manager passed by. 🌟 Overall: ✅ Tasty food ✅ Clean, pleasant environment ✅ Surprisingly good drinks ❗️ Service details need polishing Will definitely return next time I’m in Schaumburg! 🥹💭 #ChicagoEats #ChineseRestaurant #OldHutong #BeefNoodles #XiaoLongBao #PotstickerLove
