Chicago Seafood Restaurant | Bar Mar 🐙

This "giant octopus restaurant" had been sitting in my bookmarks for ages 🐙💖 — one of Michelin-starred chef José Andrés' twin restaurants in Chicago! We chose the Ultimate tasting menu: over a dozen Spanish-inspired seafood tapas, perfect for chatting and sipping cocktails 🍸. The drinks come with playful presentations — a little show before serving, so fun! Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the Chicago River — after dinner, a stroll along the river is so relaxing 😍. 📍 Address: 120 N Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606 ⏰ Hours: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM 🅿️ Parking: Super easy — street parking all across the street! 💰 Price: ~$150 per person 🥩 Embutidos – Charcuterie board with tomato bread. Chef’s selection of Spanish local ham & salami — four different types served generously with crispy toasted bread. Carb lovers, rejoice! 🍭 Caviar Cone – Slightly tangy sauce inside overshadowed the caviar — just okay. 🦪 Oyster Ceviche – Also on the tangy side, but the oysters with macadamia nuts offered a nice texture contrast. 🥑 Ora King Salmon Tiradito – Large plate of avocado and salmon with a light, sweet-tart sauce — very appetizing. 🌮 Jose’s Asian Taco – Fusion at its best: caviar, yellowtail, and seaweed — unique and tasty. 🦞 Lobster Croquetas – Fried lobster cream balls — crispy outside, creamy inside. Loved these! 🥩 Hanger Steak – Cooked medium (we adjusted from medium-rare) with roasted red peppers — flavorful and satisfying. 🥘 Rossejat – Seafood “paella” made with broken noodles instead of rice… but extremely salty. Only the shrimp on top was good. The restaurant noticed we weren’t eating it and kindly sent us a complimentary lobster roll — service on point! 🥗 Papaya & Seaweed Salad – Seaweed salad was delicious; pairing it with papaya felt a bit adventurous, but tasty on its own. 🍧 Sticky Toffee Pudding – Literally tasted like sticky toffee! Warm pudding + cold ice cream = perfect combo, though a bit sweet for some. #HelloApril #DateNightChicago #BirthdayDining #ChicagoEats #BarMar #SeafoodLover
