Chicago Weekend | Botanic Garden Orchid Show 💐

The recent Orchid Show at the Chicago Botanic Garden gets a perfect 10/10 from me! 🌟 Though I suspect it’s their way of attracting visitors during the garden’s off-season (the orchid show requires a separate ticket on top of the general entrance fee), the experience was totally worth it! 🎟️💖 The exhibition is divided into three parts: 1️⃣ First, you’re greeted by a cyberpunk-style installation art combined with orchid designs. 🖤🤖💮 2️⃣ Next, there’s an indoor hallway featuring small installations, orchid walls, and introductions to some rare orchid species. It’s super photogenic! 📸🌸 3️⃣ The third part (my favorite!) is two large greenhouses connected to the hallway. They’re filled with a dazzling variety of orchids in full bloom! 🌺🌿 Many inconspicuous spots have little signs introducing the surrounding plants, and I personally learned so many new things! For example, I had no idea some orchids look like Venus flytraps (and apparently, they can catch flies too! 🪰😱). One painful note: 🥲 Outside of the orchid show, the rest of the garden is pretty much barren. Except for the Japanese Garden , which is still worth a stroll, the current scenery is a far cry from the lush, flower-filled beauty of summer. 🍂❌🌳 During the orchid show, potted orchids are sold near the exhibition and at the garden’s gift shop. I bought one, and it’s thriving! 🌱💚 I can’t wait for spring to arrive so I can visit the garden again! 🥹🌷 Update : Just saw on the garden’s official IG account that all the orchids on display (including rare varieties) will be open for sale!
