Chicago Western Suburbs Food Share|Restaurant Week: Macarena Tapas
Alright, today we followed the food connoisseur to Macarena Tapas, a Spanish restaurant in Naperville in Chicago's western suburbs! The place isn’t huge, but it was packed — a good sign, right? 😄 ✨ Bread Rolls – Warm, toasty outside, soft inside 🥖💖 ✨ Bell Peppers with Almonds & Radish Sprouts – Refreshing and juicy, a perfect appetite opener ✨ Beef Meatballs – My favorite! So tender and juicy, not dry at all, served with tomato sauce — every bite was satisfying 🤤 ✨ Garlic Artichokes – Slightly tangy, artichoke flavor was subtle (first time trying it this way!) ✨ Fried Beef & Potato Croquettes – Delicious! Thin crispy coating with creamy mashed potato and beef filling, paired with spicy sauce and garlic aioli ✨ Grilled Octopus Leg – Wow, didn’t expect it to be this tender — texture almost like crab meat! Served with red bell pepper 🌶️🐙 ✨ Garlic Shrimp – Classic garlic, olive oil, and parsley — shrimp were firm and springy 🦐 ✨ Seafood Paella (takes 45+ mins) – Worth the wait! Loaded with seafood, rich and flavorful broth, and the rice wasn’t undercooked like some paellas — just how I like it 🥘 ✨ Mango Mousse – Smooth and airy like well-whipped foam, packed with mango flavor 🥭 ✨ Basque Cheesecake – My favorite dessert! Rich, dense, and cheesy 🧀🍰 ✨ Baked Custard – Like a big pudding, eggy flavor was strong but texture was a bit too firm, not soft and creamy Portions are small — that’s just Spanish tapas style! But it means you can try more dishes 😉 They offered 15% off for Restaurant Week and even gave us four $10-off coupons (with $50 purchase)!
