Concord (East Bay, Bay Area) šø Handmade Lanzhou Lamian
Incredible! This is the nostalgic hometown flavor Iāve been craving so badly ā¼ļø Iām not from Lanzhou, but my mom (from Fujian) used to make radish pork rib soup like this all the timeāwith a focus on big, meaty bones! I canāt believe they opened a spot here in Concord. Areas like Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, and Concord donāt have many authentic Chinese restaurants with unique flair, so this new āImpression of Lanzhouā (the second East Bay location) is such a treat. Thank you to the owner for choosing to open a Lanzhou lamian restaurant hereālocal Chinese residents will definitely support it wholeheartedly ā¤ļø ā¤ļø Address 1657 Willow Pass Rd ste A, Concord, CA 94520š Restaurant Name: Impression of Lanzhou We went yesterday during their soft opening, and it was already packed! By the time we left, there was a line. We saw lots of Asian faces, but also local white customersāturns out Lanzhou-style dishes are popular even beyond the Asian community. The prices are reasonableāyou can get such authentic pork bone soup for around $20, which is a total steal. Here are my top recommendations: š„ Spicy Pig Ears: This was my first time having authentic pig ears at a restaurant! They only used the chewy parts, no mushy fatty bits, and the spiciness was just rightāso addictive š·! š„ Spicy Mini Wontons: You can tell theyāre handmade from the first biteāthin wrappers, plump with filling, and the broth is delicious. Saving the broth to dip the pork bones in? Chefās kiss š„! š„ Roujiamo (Chinese Pork/Mutton Sandwich): They have two versionsāpork and mutton. Order both! My husband said it tastes exactly like the ones you get in China š„©. š„ Spicy Cucumber Salad: I havenāt had such authentic, crunchy cucumber salad in ages. The chef paid great attention to detailsāthe cucumbers were perfectly chilled, and the balance of saltiness and freshness was spot-on š„. š„ Handmade Lamian with Pork Bone Soup: The quality and portion of the pork bones blew me away! They were cleaned well, with no grimy fat. The soup was slow-simmered with bones, and the meat pulled off the bone easilyāchewy but never got stuck in my teeth. I love green onions and cilantro, and the owner was kind enough to add extra for me! The radish bone soup was so savory, I drank every last drop. I chose thin lamian (you can pick the thickness), and they even provided scissors to cut the noodlesāhand-pulled lamian is truly in a league of its own š! If the owner sees this: A small suggestionāturn the kitchen into an open one so customers can watch the lamian-making process! It would be such a fun experience. Nearby Eats The plaza has lots of other great optionsāChinese, Korean, Japanese restaurants, plus a 99 Ranch Market.
