Critters at The Brookfield Zoo Just Enjoyed Their First Snow of the Season—And the Pictures Are Priceless
Chicago’s recent post-Thanksgiving snowstorm brought wintry fun for local residents—including those of the four-legged variety! Animals at the Brookfield Zoo enjoyed some much-needed natural enrichment thanks to the 7+ inches of snow dumped over the course of the day Saturday. Here’s an adorable behind-the-scenes look and what’s new at the zoo this holiday season! Snow day at the zoo ------------------- The zoo’s cold-loving animals had a field day this past weekend amid blizzard conditions across the region. Critters from the [recently-born amur leopard cubs](https://secretchicago.com/brookfield-zoo-rare-amur-leopard-cubs-2025/) to Brookfield Zoo’s resident polar bears were captured frolicking and playing in their habitats. According to the zoo, the snowy weather allows the animals to practice their winter camouflaging skills while providing new avenues for exploration and adventure. This winter at the Brookfield Zoo, guests can stop by for the annual Holiday Magic celebration. Featuring 3.5 million lights in the form of themed displays, tunnels, and animal sculptures, Holiday Magic is fun for the whole family. Guests can also enjoy sweet treats, savory snacks, craft cocktails, and other concessions while they peruse the event. Holiday Magic is open now through 2026 on the following select dates: * December + 4-7 + 11-14 + 18-21 + 26-31 * January + 1-4 To purchase tickets to Holiday Magic and learn more information, click [here](https://www.brookfieldzoo.org/HolidayMagic).
