Deer Park in Madison 🦌🌿

I officially declare that outdoor activities are the best way to find inspiration and reset your mood! πŸ˜ŒπŸ’š The weather in Madison has been up and down lately, but we took advantage of a sunny day to visit a nearby deer park to feed the deer! It’s about an hour’s drive from campus. Adult admission: $18 🎫 Deer cookies: $8 πŸͺ Tips: Bring cash! Both tickets and deer snacks are cash only. Get 1-2 packs of deer cookies. The deer near the entrance are picky (and full πŸ˜†) β€” they mostly prefer corn over cookies. The deer further inside are hungrier! We only bought one pack and ran out halfway. Corn is sold for $1 per cone near the entrance 🟑. Other stalls were closed when we went. There are also corn machines ($0.25 per handful), but they don’t provide containers. Feeding corn = deer will lick your hands! πŸ‘…πŸ¦Œ You can also feed other animals with corn. Bring wet wipes! There’s only one restroom at the entrance. Watch your step… there’s poop everywhere πŸ’©. It’s also a bit smelly (lots of animals!), so maybe skip snacking inside. Plan for 1–1.5 hours. There’s also a haunted house and a wildlife park nearby β€” heard the wildlife park is worth a visit too! The deer were very friendly β€” though not quite as photogenic as the ones in Nara πŸ˜‰πŸ¦Œβ€¦ Came back feeling refreshed and even wrote my paper more smoothly lol πŸ“βœ¨ #DeerFeeding #UWMadison #NaraOfAmerica #MadisonWI #SpringOuting #PettingZoo
