Delicious Korean Food in Chicago โ New Village Gastropub ๐
Took a friend yesterday to what I consider one of Chicagoโs tastiest Korean restaurants (outside of KBBQ or soup spots) โ New Village Gastropub. I absolutely love their fried chicken! ๐โจ Unlike other Korean fried chicken thatโs overly crispy and hard, theirs has a thin, fragrant coating โ crispy but not tough, no heavy sauce, just a little salt & pepper dipโฆ so good ๐คค (Got too excited when it arrived and forgot to take a photoโฆ had to borrow one from Google ๐) We also ordered: ๐ Sea Snail and Squid Muchim Cold noodles with veggies, perilla leaves, squid, and sea snails in a sweet, mildly spicy sauce โ delicious! ๐ฒ Gopdoritang (Chicken & Offal Stew) A whole chicken, intestines, assorted offal, and sweet potato noodles in a warm, comforting broth. Super satisfying โ though I donโt eat intestines, so that part went to wasteโฆ ๐ถ Soju + Ice Cream Cocktail My friend got a drink with ice cream in it โ apparently common in Korean bars? Donโt really get it, but okay ๐ ๐ Heads up: Portions here are huge (except appetizers). The fried chicken comes as a whole chicken (my friend was shocked watching the server hand-tear it apart ๐๐). Definitely bring friends to share! #Chicago #ChicagoKoreanFood #ChicagoEats #KoreanFriedChicken #ComfortFood #FoodShare
