Dinner in Oklahoma City: Japanese Food by Malaysian-Chinese Owners
Saki Sushi Bar For dinner in Oklahoma City, we chose this sushi spot—and it turned out to be such a nice surprise! As soon as we walked in, we heard people speaking Chinese 🗣️. I immediately thought, “Just like the places I’ve been to before—Chinese owners running a Japanese restaurant in the US!” But after sitting down and chatting, we found out the owners are actually Malaysian-Chinese. The owner is a Malaysian-Chinese with roots in Fujian. He speaks both Minnan dialect and Mandarin fluently, and he’s super lively—loves chatting with customers and making everyone feel welcome 😊. His girlfriend is from Inner Mongolia, China, and the restaurant seemed really popular! We got there a little before 5 PM (not exactly peak dinner time), but there were already quite a few diners—always a good sign for a restaurant. The food was fantastic too! The sushi and other Japanese dishes were full of flavor, and we loved every bite 🍣. What really stood out was how thoughtful the owner was—he even tried to persuade us not to order too much, saying two people wouldn’t finish all that food. No pushy upselling here, just genuine care for customers 💯. Our total bill was $144, and we left a $28 tip—coming to $172 total. It was totally worth it for the delicious food and warm, friendly vibe! #OklahomaCityDining #SushiBar #InternationalEats #OklahomaFoodie #DinnerSpot
