Doha Food Review: 11 Honest Bites—No Sugarcoating!

After eating my way through Doha, here’s the real deal on what’s worth your time (and calories). No fluff, just facts! 📍 Near Souq Waqif 1️⃣ Al Bahar BBQ Fish 🫤 Overhyped but fresh: Grilled fish (1kg minimum) is decent, but don’t expect fireworks. Skip the “perfume-y” spiced rice unless you love floral notes. 2️⃣ Tea Time Karak Chai 💰 Budget win: Cheap and iconic—try it once! Super sweet with heavy spices. Go during the day to avoid nighttime queues. 3️⃣ Rose Restaurant 💸 Pricey but reliable: Dishes ~50 QAR each, huge portions. Water costs extra, but no crowds! 4️⃣ Zaatar w Zeit 🥙 Fast-food gem: Beef burgers and wraps hit the spot. Fresh, unsweetened juices—split one between two. 5️⃣ Al Najada Breakfast ☀️ Breakfast spread: Solid variety, including fried eggs. Nothing fancy but fills the tank. 📍 Near Desert Rose (National Museum Area) 6️⃣ Al Zarka 🌍 Local vibes only: Cheap, massive plates of authentic Qatari fare. Walkable from the National Museum. 📍 Mina District 7️⃣ Unnamed Seaside Café 🌊 Sweet escape: Stunning sea views and AC relief after exploring Mina’s old streets. WARNING: Drinks are diabetes-level sweet—ask for NO SUGAR! 📍 Near Al Wakrah Souq 8️⃣ Al Fanar Restaurant ❤️ My favorite meal: Lahsa egg (a spiced egg dish) was devoured instantly. Chicken was tender, and others rave about their lamb chops—next time! 9️⃣ Pampas 🌿 Chic tea spot: Gorgeous setting (only 2 indoor tables!). Perfect for summer mornings… but avoid outdoor seating in heatwaves. 📍 Breakfast & Misc. 🔟 Jarnen 🍳 Brunch vibes: Limited menu but stellar fried eggs. Instagram-worthy ambiance. #DohaUnfiltered #EatLikeALocal #QatarOnABudget #FoodieRealityCheck #NoBSReviews #SouqWaqifEats
