Danat al Bahar BBQ Fish, Doha
During a recent dinner outing, we visited Danat al Bahar BBQ Fish in Doha, following a recommendation from a friend. This restaurant stands out for its unique offering where diners can select live, fresh fish at the counter, which is then measured by weight. The variety of fish available was impressive, making the selection process exciting.
We opted for Basa and Jash fish. One of the highlights of our visit was the ability to choose the spice level for our fish. After making our selection, we moved to the seating area and awaited our BBQ fish, which took approximately 30 to 45 minutes to be served.
To complement our meal, we ordered fries, which were exceptionally fresh and tasty. We chose a spicy Basa fish weighing around 550 grams and a mildly spiced Jash fish of approximately 500 grams. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the spicy option is sure to delight.
The restaurant was quite crowded, a testament to its popularity among fish lovers. Given the summer season, the outdoor area was covered, which somewhat limited the city view but still provided a comfortable dining experience. We highly recommend calling ahead to reserve a table to avoid long wait times.
Ratings: Price: 9/10 (Reasonable) Quality: 10/10 Taste: 10/10 Ambiance: 9/10 (Would have been perfect if the open area was accessible)

Read moreSouq wagif has always been a den for a variety of restaurants since we first moved to doha in 2005 and it still doesn’t amaze us with the wide choice of cuisines it has to offer.in 2022.
Recently went to dine at this new restaurant that is a branch of its restaurant in Wakrah.
It’s location is at the hairpin bend of souq wagif that is facing the AlFanar side. Situated right next to the big mosque in the souq.
Ok coming to the food now. It’s signature dish is the grilled sea bass fish that reminded me of such a restaurant on the beaches in rabigh near KAEC in Saudi Arabia. The grilled fish is served with their firecracker sauce and mint dips. We also added shrimps on skewers which were well done too. You can opt for spicy or otherwise. We went all out to red hot spicy. However I guess our bar of spice was higher than that of the chef’s. The red sauce came to the rescue and loads of it was brought to us with a smile.
We sat upstairs as the view after sunset there is mesmerising. The service is excellent. They work hard to please you and since we went early we had the full attention of everyone. Later the manager also walked by to enquire about our experience which was very rare Ayer welcoming to us.
All in all a must visit if you love grilled fish...

Although the name may not be new to seafood enthusiasts, this restaurant has now come to SOUQ WAQIF, with the refreshing ambience and gusto, that boasts of a fine dining seafood restaurant ( Lwzaar beware) Located just adjacent to the Gold Souq, one is welcomed by a rich Arab confluence of an Al- Fresco dining on one side and intricate dining hall on the other.
The menu is uncanny to the flagship WAKRA branch, and one can choose the catch of the day before proceeding to the dining area. I can personally vouch for the fact that the food is cooked fresh and takes only as much time to be served as expected from a fresh seafood kitchen. Everything was of subtle balance and struck quite a symphony when paired with the popular Mandi rice.
Service was prompt and always with a smile, and one cannot miss the warm interactions with Mr. Vinu, the manager who personally frequents tables to ensure guest satisfaction. While the food and service boast of a fine dining experience, the price is far from. Expect to shell out a modest 50 QAR per person per table for an indulgent meal. I recommend to all who haven’t tried this gem of a...
