Doria Pamphilj Gallery: A uncrowded and pleasant Roman art gallery

✅I recommend this uncrowded and worthwhile Roman art gallery in the city center. It houses a vast collection, has few tourists, and doesn’t require advance ticket purchases. If you’ve already visited the popular museums or couldn’t get tickets, this is a great alternative. Besides the collection, the palace itself is stunning, and it’s one of those places where you can take your time and explore slowly. The mirror gallery is great for photos, and the cafe outside the gallery seems quite famous, although I didn’t go this time. ✅Doria Pamphilj Gallery (Galleria Doria Pamphilj) Located in Rome’s Doria Pamphilj Palace (Palazzo Doria Pamphilj), it is one of the largest private art galleries in Rome, owned by the Italian noble family, the Doria-Pamphili. ✅The history of the Doria Pamphilj Gallery traces back to the 17th century, and it was officially opened to the public in the second half of the 20th century. This Renaissance-style building was originally the residence of Cardinal Fazio Santoro in the 16th century and was transformed into the private residence of the Doria-Pamphili family in the late 17th century. The gallery comprises four exhibition halls, two grand halls, nine independent suites, a chapel, and an archive. ✅The main collection includes European paintings, sculptures, and furniture, featuring works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Bernini, and Titian, among others. Three of Caravaggio’s works have a dedicated wall and explanatory plaque. It also houses some memorabilia related to the Doria-Pamphili family. ✅Website: https://www.doriapamphilj.it Ticket Price: Online tickets are 17 euros, offline tickets are 16 euros. There is no student discount, but there is a free audio guide. Specific opening hours can be found on Google Maps, as they vary daily. There are closing days, and the website has detailed information. #Italy #Rome #RomeMuseums #RomeArtGallery #PrivateArtGallery #DoriaPamphiljGallery #Renaissance #Caravaggio #RomeTravelGuide #RomeHiddenGems
