Esquire — Where Wine and Food Collide 🍷✨
Located in Chicago’s Gold Coast, Esquire is the revamped version of the well-known Cooper’s Hawk. After a pandemic pause, it’s back with a new concept: visiting chefs. The current guest chef is Tom Colicchio (co-founder of NYC’s famed Gramercy Tavern). 🍷 The redesigned wine-tasting area is airy and open, surrounded by wine racks. 🥂 Complimentary welcome wine at the table. 🦀 Chef’s pick: uni and Dungeness crab chowder — like a rich, creamy crab bisque topped with sea urchin. Delicious. 🐑 Lamb chops — tender but gamier than usual (I’m not a lamb fan, so take this with a grain of salt — lamb lovers, try and report back!). 🐟 Another chef’s recommendation: bacon-wrapped monkfish — crispy outside, moist inside. Served over a sweet-tart purple veggie (unidentified but tasty). 🍫 Dessert bar in the wine-tasting area — pair chocolates with your wine sips. Heaven! Not sure who the next visiting chef will be, but if you’re interested in this season’s menu, visit soon. Great for a post-shopping lunch or dinner in the area.
