Filipino Breakfast Spot in Chicago! π³
After a painful finals week, what better way to celebrate than with a big, hearty brunch? π Uncle Mikeβs Place 1700 W Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60622 Right after you sit down, they serve you a comforting savory porridge β already a great start! I ordered the small fried fish and pork shoulder with rice topped with two sunny-side-up eggs ππ³ π The fried fish was crispy and dry-cooked, with almost no bones. A squeeze of lemon gave it a bright, tangy kick β though there was a slight fishy taste (probably not fresh-caught). π The pork shoulder was well-marinated and tender, with deliciously charred edges β reminded me of Chinese roast meats. π The house-made sausage (ordered as a side) was the star of the meal! Perfectly balanced salty-sweet flavor, bursting with juicy goodness in every bite. Pure happiness ππ On a cold winter morning, sleeping in and then having a breakfast like this felt like being rescued from my art studio limbo and melting into a cozy haven of runny yolks and sausage juices. #ChicagoEats #FilipinoFood #BrunchGoals #ComfortFood #UncleMikesPlace #BreakfastHeaven
