First Night of Chicago Restaurant Week – The Alston 🍽️
Didn’t have super high expectations, but this Chicago Restaurant Week dinner turned out to be way better than I imagined! Feels like the dark horse of this year’s lineup 🐎💫. 🍽️ About the Food: Appetizer – Ribeye: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Amazing from the start! The meat was cooked perfectly with sophisticated seasoning — first bite and I was already happy 😋. Main – Duck: 🦆 The duck itself was tender and well-prepared, but the seasoning was a bit heavy for me (a touch too salty — though salty-food lovers might disagree!). The crispy potato cake underneath was smooth and delicious though 🥔✨. Main – Salmon: 🐟 The salmon was tender, but I have to give a shoutout to the sides — they were truly the star! Paired together, the textures and flavors were beautifully layered. Friend’s Chicken: 🍗 The portion was HUGE (literally stunned when it arrived 😂), and the chicken was incredibly tender — not dry at all. Felt like unbeatable value! 🍸 About the Vibe: We stopped by their bar afterward and the atmosphere was absolutely stunning ✨. Soft, moody lighting with a cozy yet elegant feel — perfect for dates or catching up with friends 💬❤️. Overall, no regrets — definitely worth trying! Officially adding The Alston to my “will return” list ✅. #ChicagoRestaurantWeek #TheAlston #ChicagoEats #HiddenGem #DateNightSpot
