Foodie Diary in Croatia 🍽️

Split: 📍 Restaurant Mizarola One of the few open spots on Hvar Island during the off-season. Our tour guide recommended it, praising it for "good taste and good price" 👍. The pizza and risotto were delicious, the lasagna was unique, and the creamy mushroom pasta was great (though a bit salty and heavy toward the end). 📍 Gelateria Gelato A gem in Split’s Old Town—rich, creamy, and packed with tasty mix-ins! 📍 Nevera Tavern A cozy seaside spot with playful staff (they even gave us cute aprons!). The seafood stew was fantastic, and their black squid risotto was the best we had during the trip! Also loved the tomato beef pasta (huge, tender beef chunks), though the steak was just average. Dubrovnik: 📍 Restaurant Panorama A popular cliffside restaurant—booked out a month in advance for seaside seats, but luckily scored a city-view table by walking in at 11 AM! Just had drinks, but the vibe was worth it. 📍 Barba A tiny but iconic seafood burger shack. The octopus and shrimp burgers were juicy and flavorful (especially the shrimp patty!). Expect a wait—it’s small but worth it. 📍 Peppino's Gelato Dubrovnik’s best gelato 🍦! Tried it twice—no regrets. The tiramisu and pistachio were heavenly, and the fruit flavors (like mango) tasted like biting into fresh fruit. 📍 Bokar A 4.9-star Google-rated spot. The duck was tender and amazing, the tacos had a sweet-sour kick, the tempura was crispy, and the pumpkin soup was unique. Don’t miss the orange-flavored crème brûlée 🍊! 📍 Buza Bar A cliffside bar in the Old Town. Skip the drinks (cash-only, limited canned options), but go for the views—locals dive off the rocks here when it’s sunny! 📍 Holy Burek A must-try local meat pastry. The chicken version was juicy and delicious, but the cheese one was a bit heavy. Sadly, the beef was sold out—it’s that popular! 📍 Gradska Kavana Arsenal Restaurant Sister venue to Panorama (10% discount if you’ve dined there). The seafood risotto and truffle pasta were rich and flavorful, and the squid was great. Only miss: dry chicken. Views = 10/10. 📍 Rixos Premium Dubrovnik (Hotel Bar) Surprisingly solid for a hotel spot! Limited menu, but the pasta, pizza, and sushi were all tasty. 🍺 Also good! Final Thoughts: Croatian food was delicious and reasonably priced (~€20-30 per person). April was perfect (except for swimming—too chilly!). #Croatia #FoodieAdventures #CroatianCuisine #TravelEats #Dubrovnik #Split
