Found Chicago's MOST Chinese-palate-friendly Portuguese Egg
📍 Noodlebird The " who loves treating people to dinner" and I originally planned to hit Thai spot Eat Fine Design—but it was SO POPULAR that reservations were FULL, so we pivoted to this place last minute... and the PORTUGUESE EGG TARTS BLEW ME AWAY 🤯 🥧 EGG TART - The CLOSEST thing to KFC-style Portuguese tarts I've had in Chicago! SUPER flaky crust, the filling is perfectly rich and (full), NO weird eggy taste 👌 🥟 SHRIMP & GARLIC DUMPLINGS - SPECIAL SHOUTOUT to these dumplings! NOT the translucent Cantonese style—just regular wrappers STUFFED with GENEROUS, (sincere) shrimp filling. SURPRISINGLY NO fishy taste at ALL! 😭 🍖 CHA SIU BBQ HERITAGE PORK - Char siu rice. The BBQ pork itself is just okay (6/10), but the COCONUT JASMINE RICE is SO AROMATIC it brings the whole dish to 8/10! 🔥 🍜 STEAMED MINDED SOY SAUCE BEEF NOODLE - We were ACTUALLY looking for(stir-fried beef noodles) but accidentally ordered THIS instead 👆🏻. The noodles have a cold noodle texture—pretty decent, just feels VERY healthy overall 😅 🥒 SPICY CUCUMBER - NOT spicy. Love digging for the peanuts + wood ear mushrooms inside! 🥭 MANGO PASSION COOLER - Mango passionfruit drink—SO GOOD! 😋 🥟 CHA SIU BUN - HUGE char siu bao, SUPER generous filling! 🐷 PORK & GINGER DUMPLINGS - Little too PORK-Forward in flavor 🐷 This is DEF a spot I'll randomly crave—COMING BACK for those egg tarts + shrimp dumplings fosho! 🙌 #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #ChicagoRestaurants #ChicagoChineseFood #ChicagoLife
