Frontier — Chicago’s Wildest BBQ: Whole Alligator! 🐊

Summer calls for barbecue, and we went all out with a whole alligator at Chicago’s legendary spot, Frontier. Frontier offers whole-animal BBQ for any party size, from salmon and antelope legs to goat, sheep, alligator, and even whole pigs (farm-raised or wild). 🐊 Our alligator — presented for photos before the chef carved it into shareable pieces. Tasted like dark-meat chicken, no gaminess. Served with two BBQ sauces. Inside the gator was a whole roasted chicken, also carved and served — plenty of meat for everyone! 🍝 Sides included: ▪️ Mac & cheese — baked until crispy, with a toasted rice-like crust. ▪️ Jambalaya & roasted vegetables — classic BBQ accompaniments. ▪️ Large Caesar salad (not pictured) — more than enough food overall. 🐖 Other tables ordered whole pig — but the chef discarded the skin after carving! Apparently it’s too tough, unlike the crispy skin at Bazaar Meat. Overall, a fun and memorable experience, though the food itself wasn’t mind-blowing enough for a repeat visit. Still, worth it for the novelty! ℹ️ Check Frontier’s website for pricing — alligator requires at least 5 days’ notice.
