Galit — Spring Visit to a Chicago Michelin
Finally unlocked Galit — my Chicago Michelin-starred restaurant collection is now complete 🫶🏻. I’d avoided it before due to my usual hesitation with Middle Eastern cuisine, but after hearing about their star, I had to see how it differed from the usual. 🍹 Non-alcoholic pomegranate drink — subtle on the pomegranate flavor, but refreshing. 👁️ Loved our kitchen-view seats — always fun to watch the action. 🫓 Hummus with toppings (tomato, pickles, pumpkin purée, cheese + olive oil) + fresh-baked pita — each dip had its own character. 🧆 Falafel — not dry like many versions, though the crust was still a bit hard for my taste. 🥞 Foie gras crêpe — silky foie with a burst of Sichuan peppercorn — surprisingly addictive. 🦃 Smoked turkey — tasted like pastrami, served with grapefruit and pea purée + a subtle smokiness. Highly recommend! 🐑 Lamb kebab (friend’s order) — tender braised lamb under a crispy crust, flavored with mint and… shiitake mushrooms? An unexpected but pleasant twist. 🍮 Malabi rice pudding with strawberries, rhubarb, pistachios, and hibiscus — lightly sweet, not cloying. Overall, 5 courses for $68 is genuinely great value for a Michelin-starred meal. Several dishes were standout creative, offering something many traditional fine-dining spots don’t. That said, due to personal taste preferences, I probably won’t become a regular — but very glad I tried it!
