Galleria Doria Pamphilj in Rome

The Galleria Doria Pamphilj is located within the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj in Rome, Italy. It belongs to the Doria-Pamphili family, one of Italy’s noble families, and houses an incredibly rich collection of private art. 🎨 So far, this has been the most charming and lively private residence I’ve visited. The Palazzo Doria Pamphilj is still inhabited by family descendants, and a significant portion of the free audio guide is narrated by them. Walking through their home and listening to their stories feels both surreal and fascinating. 🏰 The gallery features masterpieces from many great artists, with Caravaggio’s works being the most famous. There’s an entire room dedicated to his paintings. **Admission:** €16 for adults, no advance booking required. **Audio Guide:** Free. I highly recommend purchasing the additional ticket for the Secret Rooms for €5. It gives you access to the former owners’ nursery, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Standing in those rooms, I felt like I was transported back in time. I could almost see the family sitting on the sofa, gathered around the fireplace, chatting away, with one of the children playing the piano gently. When it was time for bed, the children would go to sleep one by one, and the mother would return to her room, take a bath in the private bathroom, and then get ready for bed at her dressing table. 🕰️ I’ve heard that the gallery’s café is beautiful and worth a visit, but unfortunately, it was closed when I visited on a Monday. Maybe next time! ☕ #Italy #Travel #Tourism #ArtGallery #Museum #Caravaggio #CaravaggioAndTheBaroqueMiracle #SoloTravel
