Gute Leute Coffee Omakase – Kung Pao Chicken Flavored? 🥡☕️

A few months ago, Gute Leute was so popular you couldn’t even book their Coffee Omakase—walk-in only ☕️🔥. After playing tennis on Saturday 🎾, I planned to visit DC’s new Monsoon Books 📚, but suddenly felt like having coffee here—and luckily scored a 5 PM slot! (Don’t ask me what time I fell asleep that night 😅) They offer two Omakase options: Signature and Special. I went with Special this time since I’d already tried some Signature drinks before (all delicious!), and wanted something new 🆕✨. Special Course Menu – Quick review in order: ☕️ First: A complimentary coffee shot (not on the menu) – so strong it nearly sent me to the moon 🌕💥. Maybe the idea is “bitter before sweet”? ☕️ Ember Pine: Absolutely stunning 🌲💫. Even with an espresso shot, it wasn’t bitter—sweet with a cinnamon aftertaste. My favorite! ☕️ Gute Nut Spanner: My friend said it tasted like Kung Pao Chicken 🥢🐔… no idea how, maybe the peanut aroma? 🤔 ☕️ Harvest Oat Bliss: Topped with brown sugar crystals. Sip through the espresso, oat milk, and sugar for a sweet-salty-bitter mix—magical! 🥛🌀 ☕️ Blonde Claire: On the sour side, with a lemon slice shaped like a flower 🍋🌼 and lemon sorbet inside. Left a pleasant coffee aftertaste. ☕️ Autumn Compana: Sweet cream and chestnut flavors 🧁🌰. Started feeling a bit heavy here—glad the final tea helped cleanse the palate. 🥤 Chamomile Lychee Punch: Honestly, couldn’t really taste the lychee—a bit sweet. Better after the ice melted 🧊. 🥤 Peachiscus: Less sweet, with a strong peach flavor 🍑👍. I skipped the last dessert option Ah-Choo (with ice cream) because the previous cream drink was already rich enough.
