Half-Day Trip to Pennsylvania’s Capital📍 Harrisburg

Having lived in Harrisburg for a few years and now about to move away, I felt it would be a shame not to visit the State Capitol at least once—so I made it happen! 🏛️ The itinerary included the Pennsylvania State Capitol + The State Museum of Pennsylvania + lunch, all within 4 hours. 🅿️ Parking: I searched for “State Street” on the map. After turning in, both sides of the street offered parking. It cost $16 for 4 hours, and I could easily extend the time via mobile payment. First Stop – Pennsylvania State Capitol: I booked a free guided tour for 11 AM. 🗽 The tour took us through the House Chamber, Senate Chamber, and the Supreme Court. I was surprised—though Harrisburg looks a bit old on the outside, the government interiors are absolutely gorgeous and grand! 👔 Everyone walking around during the weekday was dressed in formal attire, clearly here for work. The tour lasted about half an hour. After it ended, I explored inside and outside a bit more. By then, it was almost noon. There were several food trucks behind the building, mostly serving people on their lunch breaks. Since nothing caught my eye, I moved on to the next stop. Second Stop – The State Museum of Pennsylvania: Just a short walk away! 🖼️ Adult tickets are $7, and for an extra $4, you can watch a 25-minute educational film about the dome (more suitable for kids—I dozed off halfway through 😴). The museum isn’t huge, but the exhibits are very well arranged, covering art, cultural history, and natural science. There are three floors open to the public. I spent about 20-30 minutes on each floor, browsing fairly quickly. Third Stop – Lunch at Roxy’s Cafe: By 1:45 PM, I was done at the museum and headed to the café across the street for a late breakfast. ☕️ The food was great and affordable—a full plate + an iced coffee + tip came to around $15. Not bad at all! #Food #Harrisburg #Pennsylvania #Museum
