Here Are Chicago’s 2025 Michelin Star and Bib Gourmand Winners
The 2025 Michelin star winners are officially in, and the Windy City has a new crop of elite restaurants along with some returning champs! The renowned food guide hosted its annual Northeast Cities awards ceremony on Tuesday, November 18 in Philadelphia. The ceremony encompasses Michelin awards for Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York City. Chicago scored big on award night, with numerous local restaurants maintaining their stars, one restaurant climbing the ranks, and another earning its first-ever star. Here’s a look at all the local spots that made the cut! Feld earns first Michelin Star ------------------------------ Chicago has a new first-time Michelin-starred restaurant—one which debuted to polarizing reception in June of 2024. The brainchild of TikTok-famous chef Jacob Potashnick, Feld endured sharp criticisms during its early days. Despite its rough start, the Ukrainian Village fine dining establishment seems to have finally hit its stride. Of note is the eatery’s focus on seasonal flavors and locally sourced ingredients, according to Michelin. Standout dishes include poached Maine halibut with a maitake mushroom purée and asparagus in a variety of forms. Feld is Chicago’s lone new Michelin-star recipient for 2025. Kasama climbs the Michelin ladder --------------------------------- [Kasama](https://secretchicago.com/chicago-worlds-50-best-restaurants-2025/) made headlines in 2022 when it became the first-ever Filipino restaurant to receive a Michelin star. The restaurant and bakery soared to even greater heights after earning a shoutout in popular FX series The Bear, sparking a social media frenzy. Now, the concept from husband-and-wife duo Tim Flores and Genie Kwon has ascended the Michelin ranks, receiving its second star on Tuesday night. With its new double-star status, the West Town hot spot joins the ranks of other longtime Michelin institutions including Ever and Oriole. Oriole, Ever, Smyth, and others hold strong ------------------------------------------- Tuesday’s Michelin ceremony included a number of reigning local restaurant champs. Smyth retained its 3-star status, making it the sole Chicago restaurant to hold the coveted top tier designation. Oriole from Chef Noah Sandoval and Chef Curtis Duffy’s Ever both held onto their respective 2-star designations. Returning 1-star awardees include Cariño, Atelier, Boka, Elske, Esmé, and more. Alinea drops a star -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Longtime Michelin darling Alinea received a demotion from Michelin during the 2025 ceremony, with Grant Achatz’s acclaimed Lincoln Park restaurant dropping from 3 to 2 stars. Achatz and the Alinea team took the demotion in stride, sharing a post last week acknowledging Michelin’s decision and congratulating this year’s winners. “Congratulations to all the 2025 MICHELIN Guide recipients. Your dedication, talent, and hospitality continue to elevate our industry.” Click here to view the full list of 2025 Chicago Michelin star recipients. Bib Gourmand winners -------------------- The 2025 Michelin awards included several new additions to Chicago’s Bib Gourmand list. Michelin’s Bib Gourmand list acknowledges restaurants outside of the fine dining sphere, highlighting local restaurants offering exemplary food at reasonable prices. This year’s newly certified restaurants include gourmet taco joint Taqueria Chingón, Indian-Mexican fusion eatery Mirra, and Indian hotspot Nadu.
