How to Choose the Best Sushi AYCE in Chicago?! 🍣

A new sushi AYCE spot just opened in Chicago — Nikko Sushi Izakaya — and I immediately grabbed my AYCE-expert friend to check it out! After trying it, we decided to compare it with two other popular Chicago AYCE spots: Mira Sushi and Sushi Taku. 💰 Price Comparison: Nikko isn’t going for the budget-friendly route — dinner is $32.99 per person, slightly higher than the longtime favorite Sushi Taku, but not unreasonable (full menu in last slide). ⭐ Quality Comparison: Ranking: Nikko >= Taku > Mira We felt Nikko’s ingredients were a bit better than the others, though the difference is subtle. 🍽️ Nikko’s Highlights: They limit one appetizer per person (unlike Taku’s unlimited sashimi), but the appetizers we tried felt more refined. Favorites: Toro Wrap & Walu Tataki 🍤✨ They also have a wider variety — besides nigiri, rolls, and snacks, they offer yakitori and hand rolls Though the rice portions are generous, the flavor stands out among AYCE options. 😅 Nikko’s Downsides: Yakitori seasoning was just okay, and the meat was a bit dry and chewy (though that’s common in AYCE). Snacks like soft-shell crab and chicken bites were overly starchy — so we skipped the takoyaki. 🍦 Matcha Ice Cream Review: Honestly, it’s the best ice cream I’ve had at an AYCE… but maybe because my expectations were too high, it felt a bit too sweet, masking some of the matcha flavor. Maybe the recipe changed? Manage your expectations for a better experience 😉 #ChicagoEats #ChicagoLife #AYCE #SushiBuffet #ChicagoFoodie #JapaneseFood #StudentEats
