I’ll Raid This Chicago Bakery Like a Bandit 🥐
I wasn’t originally a hardcore “bread head,” but the moment I stepped into this Taiwanese bakery, I instantly defected to the cult. It was a see-one-grab-one situation—afraid everything would sell out if I hesitated. 🥮 Sweet Bean 📍 1152 S Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60605 This place was first recommended by a Seattle friend, then a Chicago buddy also wanted to go—so we teamed up to check it out! Standing in front of the display case: seaweed pork floss pineapple bun, purple sweet potato taro bun, red bean mochi bun, matcha red bean bun, Thai milk tea egg tart… Hello?? What is this sorcery?! Every bun was glowing, every bun was fragrant, soft, and chewy—off-the-charts delicious! We got so excited we left with two huge baskets 🧺, like a holiday harvest. Once again, proof that the Asian stomach is truly healed by Taiwanese-style bread. There’s seating inside, but the AC wasn’t on during the weekend—pretty stuffy. Better to grab and go. Also, go early—half the case was already empty by the time we arrived… Next time, I might need to bring a suitcase for my bread haul 😂 #Chicago #ChicagoEats #BakeryLove #BreadHeaven #AsianBakeries #ChicagoLife #LifeInTheUS
