From the moment you arrive, you're immersed in an atmosphere of authentic, old-world charm. Let's start with the delightful details that make this place so unique! 🗝️ They use REAL KEYS instead of key cards! How cool and nostalgic is that? The classic elevator, the stairwells, and even the bathroom faucets are bursting with original Roaring Twenties character! 🚪💫 We had a mini-fridge in our room and a lovely view of the Chicago hotel district—so beautiful, especially at night! 🌃 And such a lovely touch: they give you a complimentary drink upon check-in! 🍸 Now, let's get into the full, honest picture—because with historic charm comes some quirky challenges! The Quirks & Considerations: 🪔 The room had two lamps that needed to be switched on individually. The lighting was quite dim and unfortunately, one lamp was positioned in a way that the bulb was always directly in my line of sight. 😅 I got creative and used the ice bucket to prop up the table lamp to shield my eyes! For most people, this might not be an issue, but it's something to be mindful of. Housekeeping was wonderful—they even came to collect our takeout boxes, which was super convenient! However, their service hours were somewhat limited. The Bathroom... Could Use Some Love. 🚿⚠️ This is where the age of the building shows most. The bathroom could really use a thoughtful renovation. The bathroom faucet vibrates quite noticeably when turned on at full power and likely needs re-caulking. Water leaked from the top ring of the sink faucet. There's very limited vanity counter space. The floor tiles were cracked, and the tub was a standard, building-issue model with some rust spots. Some wall tiles appeared to be missing grout or had potential mildew? I believe it was primarily a grouting issue. A Word of Caution on the Bed Frame: 🛏️💢 Be very careful with the wooden bed frame! It's quite sturdy but also very prominent. The mattress is slightly smaller than the frame itself. I bumped my shin against it multiple times, resulting in some pretty significant bruises. Combined with the generally low lighting, it's something to navigate carefully! Final Verdict: ✨ Despite the quirks, this place is utterly charming, very clean, and in a FANTASTIC location!
